After their biggest ever continental victory — 7-0 in Cairo — against Chad's Gazelle, Zamalek players relaxed in their second leg match in Chad. Zamalek were simply going through the motions in a return leg which ended 0-0 and which was certain to take the team to round 32 following a 7-0 score on aggregate. “I am very satisfied with our performance as a team,” Mahmoud Fathalla, Zamalek's defender, said. “We as players are doing our best to change the bad memories Zamalek fans had of us in the past. We promise our fans that we will do our best to make them enjoy our playing.” Medhat Bahgat, Zamalek's board member and head of Zamalek's delegation in Chad, said the players “did their best especially that were playing in temperatures as high as 48C.” Fans and media note Zamalek is no longer depending on an individual star as was the case when Shikabala was around. Shikabala, on loan in the UAE, was highly talented but often turned his skills into a one-man show. Now, all the players are doing their part, and under the tutelage of new Brazilian coach Jorvan Vieira, who took Iraq to the Asian cup in 2007. In round 32, Zamalek will face the winner of the match between DR Congo's Vita Club and Dynamic Togolaise.
