This hippopotamus or (Greek for “horse of the river”) is currently the youngest animal at the Giza Zoo. Ayman Barayez captured the two-month-old hippo as it confronted the atmosphere only a few days ago, having been born and fed for two months under water. According to the Chairman of the Central Administration of the Giza Zoo, Fatma Tammam, the zoo has four main ponds with 26 male and female hippopotami; an adult male hippo weighs four tonnes, a female two tonnes; at birth our star weighed only five kilogrammes.
