TICKLING TOES: Pamper your aching feet without spending money on expensive salon treatments.
A few easy homemade recipes can get you started on an excellent foot spa treatment. No matter what recipe you use, there are foot scrubs, soaks and lotions that will give the best results.
* First, remove any nail polish and clean your feet. Fill your bathtub or a small basin with hot water. The water should be warm enough for you to place your feet comfortably in it.
* Add a few drops of essential oil, body wash, your favourite bath salts, baking soda or anything else you'd like. Common ingredients include rosemary, lavender, lemon slices and honey. There are no hard or fast rules, so feel free to customise the ingredients to your tastes and needs.
* Place your feet in the water and soak for 10 to 15 minutes. Take this time to relax.
* Remove your feet from the soak and slough off any dead skin using a pumice stone, a sea salt scrub or your favourite exfoliant. You can also scrub your feet with a homemade foot scrub. Sugar or salt scrubs work best and should be gently massaged into your skin with circular movements.
* Rinse your feet and pat dry with a clean towel. Pat your feet dry and take the opportunity to trim your toenails and push back cuticles. Scrape away calluses and give yourself the full spa treatment.
* Moisturise your feet with foot lotion. You can then cover your feet with thick socks for perfect, spa-treated feet.
