Sfaxien advance in Champions League, TP Mazembe struggle The Tunisian side defeated Horoya Athlétique Club, while former champions TP Mazembe fell in a 2-1 defeat against Sewe Sport
Tunisian club Sfaxien gained a first leg advantage on Sunday following their 1-0 away win over hosts Horoya Athlétique Club of Guinea in the first leg of the Confederation Cup's round of 16. International forward Fakhreddine Ben Youssef scored the winner in the 60th minute, giving his side a precious win. Also on Sunday, Congolese side TP Mazembe slumped to a 2-1 away defeat against Ivorian side Sewe Sport. Forward Roger Assele opened the scoring for the hosts in the 36th minute, while midfielder Koffi Christian made it 2-0 five minutes before the end. Mazembe's Tanzanian forward Aly Samattascored the consolation goal for his side in the injury time. Earlier in the day, Sudanese Giants Al-Hilal also emerged from the first leg with an advantage, following their 1-1 away draw against Congolese side Leopards. Al-Hilal's Forward Mudathir Kareka scored the only goal for his side in the 22nd minute, but Rudy Bhebey-Ndey netted the equaliser for the hosts one minute before the break. In the same round, AS Vita of DR Congothrashed South African side Kaizer Chiefs 3-0 thanks to Firmin Ndombe Mubele, who scored a hat-trick in the 10th, 35th and 47th minutes respectively.
