A Kuwaiti business delegation is visiting Cairo this week, marking the first trip to Egypt by officials from the oil-rich emirate since the January 25 revolution. Led by Ali Thunayan Al-Ghanim, Chairman of Kuwait's Chamber of Commerce and Industry, visitors will include the heads of leading Kuwaiti companies as well as trade, investment and banking officials. Al-Ghanim will meet Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, head of the Supreme Council of Egypt's Armed Forces, Prime Minister Essam Sharaf and representatives of the Egyptian Investment Authority, he told reporters before his departure. Kuwait is said to have the Arab world's second largest presence in Egypt in terms of investment volume. There are 381 Kuwaiti companies operating in Egypt, the majority in the real estate, tourism, manufacturing, banking and food production sectors. "The economic delegation's visit to Egypt at this time is a vote of confidence in the Egyptian economy and in its future," said Al-Ghanim.
