Shikabala arrives in Lisbon to sign contract Zamalek playmaker arrives in Portugal to sign a permanent contract with Lisbon after terminating his deal with the Whites
Mahmoud 'Shikabala' Abdel-Razeq has arrived in Portugal to join Lisbon, the player's agent revealed on Friday. In December Shikabala unilaterally terminated his contract with Zamalek, claiming the club owed him money. But the Whites management said the player owed the club 500,000 euros. The 27-year-old reached an agreement with Zamalek to pay the amount and for him to join Lisbon before the winter transfer window closes. Zamalek will receive 5 percent of the player's contract for a year as part of the deal. "Shikabala arrived in Morocco then flew to Portugal to finalise the deal with Lisbon," his agent Abdel-Rahman Magdy said via Twitter on Friday. Zamalek's new coach Ahmed Hossam 'Mido' said recently he would try to coax Shikabala into staying but the temperamental player stood firm. A product of Zamalek's youth academy, Shikabala is a fan favourite but is often criticised for failing to live up to his potential due to his on and off-field antics. His only spell in Europe was with Greek side PAOK between 2005 and 2007. Lisbon are currently second in the Portuguese league table with 37 points, two behind leaders Benfica.
