Contractors' Farouk to replace Salah in Basel squad The Arab Contractors midfielder will fly to Switzerland for trials with Basel after the departure of team star Mohamed Salah to Chelsea
Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Farouk has said that he will undergo trials with Swiss side Basel to replace Mohamed Salah, who has recently joined English Premier League giants Chelsea. Farouk, who plays for Egyptian Premier League side Arab Contractors, scored his side's first goal during the 2-1 win over Ahly in the sixth matchday of the league on Thursday. He latched onto an incisive through pass as he sold both defender Ahmed 'Manga' Nabil and keeper Sherif Ekramy a sublime dummy before turning and slotting home with his left foot. Swiss champions Basel asked Arab Contractors management to find a replacement for Mohamed Salah who joined Chelsea on a five-and-a-half year contract this January, after his superb performance with the team. The 25-year-old star is expected to replace Salah in Basel's squad this winter after his superb performance with team in the Egyptian Premier league this season, when he scored three goals in five games. "I will undergo trials with Basel soon," Farouk told a television programme after the game. "Arab Contractors management have recommended me to replace Salah in Basel's squad," he added.
