'The Square' director Jehane Noujaim wins prestigious Directors Guild Award
Egyptian-American director Noujaim is awarded at the Directors Guild of America Outstanding Directorial Achievement Awards for her Oscar-nominated documentary 'The Square'

Director Jehane Noujaim reaped on Saturday 25 January an award for her documentary film The Square at the 66th annual Directors Guild of America (DGA) Outstanding Directorial Achievement Awards, announced at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles.
The Square, a two-hour documentary that chronicles over two years of revolution and political upheaval, recently earned Egypt its very first Academy Award nomination.
This is Noujaim's second DGA award and third nomination. In 2001 she won a DGA award for Startup.com (together with Chris Hegedus) and in 2004 she was nominated, again in the documentary category, for Control Room.
Before becoming an Oscar contender, The Square had already won the Audience Award for World Cinema Documentary at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, as well as the People's Choice Award for Best Documentary at the Toronto International Film Festival.
