Mahdy Akef - Brotherhood's top leader between 2004 and 2010 - is on trial for 'insulting the judiciary' after calling Egyptian judges 'corrupt' in an interview with a Kuwaiti newspaper The trial of former Muslim Brotherhood Supreme Guide Mahdy Akef is to begin at a court in Cairo on Tuesday. Akef is accused of insulting the judiciary for saying Egyptian judges are "corrupt" during an interview with Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida in April. He will face a separate trial for inciting the killing of protesters in front of the Muslim Brotherhood's headquarters in Cairo's Moqattam during anti-Morsi protests on 30 June and during clashes in Manial. Most of the Muslim Brotherhood's senior leaders have been arrested since Mohamed Morsi was removed from the presidency in July.
