Mahdy Akef - Brotherhood's top leader between 2004 and 2010 - is on trial for 'insulting the judiciary' after calling Egyptian judges 'corrupt' in an interview with a Kuwaiti newspaper The trial of former Muslim Brotherhood Supreme Guide Mahdy Akef is to begin at a court in Cairo on Tuesday. Akef is accused of insulting the judiciary for saying Egyptian judges are "corrupt" during an interview with Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Jarida in April. He will face a separate trial for inciting the killing of protesters in front of the Muslim Brotherhood's headquarters in Cairo's Moqattam during anti-Morsi protests on 30 June and during clashes in Manial. Most of the Muslim Brotherhood's senior leaders have been arrested since Mohamed Morsi was removed from the presidency in July. The crackdown intensified in mid-August when security forces killed hundreds of Islamists while clearing two protest camps in Cairo. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/88721.aspx
