Published in Ahram Online on 26 - 11 - 2013

Security forces dispersed a newprotest lawin front of the journalists syndicate in downtown Cairo on Tuesday.
"The police gave us five minutes to end the protest. If we refused, they threatened to disperse it themselves using water cannons and teargas," activist and journalist Rasha Azzab told Ahram Online.
Some protesters dispersed and recongregated at the family residence of slain activist 'Jika' in Abdeen square, others were chased by security forces using water cannons and teargas.
The protest was called for by the Martyr Gaber Salah Movement, a group named after 16-year-old activist Gaber Salah (Jika) who was killed in clashes with security forces in November 2012.
The protest was also intended to commemorate the anniversary of Jika's death.
The controversial protest law, approved by interim president Adly Mansour on Sunday, has been slammed by numerous political groups as "repressive."
Particularly controversial articles include requiring protest organisers to notify authorities three days in advance of a protest's demands and imposing heavy jail terms and fines on individuals who break the law.
