On 1 December, Khan Al Maghraby gallery in Zamalek will open an exhibition presenting 35 oil paintings, water colors and drawings by Egyptian artist Abdalla Gohar, a tribute to the artist on what would have been his 95th birthday. Born in 1916, Gohar graduated from the Fine Arts college in Cairo, Graphics department, in 1937. He then worked as a professor in the college and later as the head of the Graphics department. Gohar was the first Egyptian artist to receive the Italian diploma of Institut del Libro Irpina. During his long career, Gohar's works were exhibited in Egypt and abroad-- Germany, Tunisia, and the USA, among other places--and he was awarded several prizes for his artistic achievements by the Egyptian government. Abdalla Gohar passed away in 2006. The exhibition will run until 11 December. Khan Al Maghraby 18 El Mansour Mohamed St. Zamalek, Cairo
