Egypt's Ashour makes unsuccessful case for Squash inclusion in Olympic Games
Ramy Ashour was part of a delegation that aimed to convince the International Olympic Committee to include Squash in the 2020 Games, but their efforts did not pay off

Egypt's Ramy Ashour was a member of a World Squash Federation delegation that presented its case to join the 2020 Olympic Games at the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session on Sunday.
The delegation also included former Women's World Champion Sarah Fitz-Gerald of Australia; Pan American Junior Champion Diego Elias of Peru; Andreina Benedith, the United States U-19 Urban Squash Champion of New York; and Andrew Shelley, WSF Chief Executive.
"We just finished our presentation and the team did great:) now lets wait and see the result in 30 mins," men's world champion Ashour said on Twitter, shortly before Squash lost in the IOC vote.
Wrestling won back its spot in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics after beating bids from rivals squash and baseball/softball in the vote.
Wrestling, which featured in the ancient Olympics and in every modern Games apart from 1900, had been surprisingly taken off the Games in February as the IOC looked to refresh its sports program.
Sunday's result marks a sensational turnaround for the sport which overhauled its rules, administration, gender equity and operations following its shock exclusion.
