Egypt interim cabinet to hold first meeting Sunday Egypt's first post-Morsi interim cabinet with meet for first time on Sunday; agenda expected to include economy and security
Egypt's newly-appointed cabinet will hold its first meeting on Sunday, reports state news agency MENA. The new cabinet, led by prominent economist Hazem El-Beblawi, was formed as part of the military's post-Morsi roadmap, following the latter's popularly-backed ouster by armed forces chief General Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on 3 July. A source from the Egyptian cabinet told MENA that the meeting was delayed for a few days after the swearing-in ceremony to give the opportunity for the new ministers to review their respective ministerial priorities. The top items on the agenda will be the economy and the security situation, the source added. Rival protests, often violent, have taken place in recent days across the country, with Morsi's supporters rejecting the new government and demanding his reinstatement. The 34-minister cabinet, composed mainly of liberals and technocrats with no Islamist presence, was sworn-in on Tuesday 16 July before interim President Adly Mansour. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/76946.aspx
