Kuwait says parliamentary elections will take place 27 July, two days later than originally scheduled. The vote was called after a court decision dissolved the chamber over flaws in the balloting law. The voting was initially set for 25 July. Wednesday's report by the official Kuwait News Agency gave no reason for the delay. Opposition factions boycotted parliamentary elections in December, claiming new voting rules favored Kuwait's ruling family and were imposed without public debate. This month the constitutional court invalidated the 50-seat chamber over technicalities in the election rules. It upheld the contested regulations for a one-person, one-vote system in place of the former rules that allowed voters to cast ballots for multiple candidates.
