Bottom side Mahalla suffer heartbreaking defeat by Ahly
Ghazl El-Mahalla denied a famous victory over Group A leaders Ahly in the Egyptian Premier League on Tuesday after conceding two goals in the last four minutes
Published in Ahram Online on 28 - 05 - 2013

Already-qualified Ahly scored twice in the dying minutes, including a goal from debutant Amr Gamal, to deal a blow to Ghazl El-Mahalla's survival hopes following a 2-1 Egyptian Premier League victory on Tuesday.
A brilliant solo goal from Raed Mansy gave Mahalla a first-half lead but Ahly's in-form winger Walid Soliman drove home the equalizer in the 86th minute.
Youngster Gamal, who came on as a second-half substitute to make his senior team debut, headed home one minute from time to deny Mahalla a famous win.
Mahalla finished with ten men after Hussein El-Hosseiny was dismissed for a second bookable offense in stoppage time.
Nicknamed the Farmers, Mahalla are languishing at the bottom of Group A with 10 points, four adrift of the safety zone with two matches remaining.
The bottom three in Groups A and B will play a mini-league with only home fixtures to determine the four teams who will be relegated.
Defending champions Ahly, who had already secured passage to the league's decisive phase, are on top of the group 36 points.
Mahalla were eager to allay the anger of their hardcore supporters, who stormed the club's stadium more than once to protest against a poor run of results.
They were dangerous on the break in the first half, exposing the gaps of Ahly's midfield and defence via some swift moves.
They were unlucky not to go ahead in the early stages when forward Ahmed Magdy broke clear after latching onto a defence-splitting pass but his effort hit the side netting.
Mansy made amends four minutes before the interval when he collected the ball on the halfway line, nutmugged Ahly's Mohamed Barakat and weaved his way past three defenders to lift the ball over keeperSherif Ekramy and into the net.
Ahly laid siege to Mahalla's area in a second half they completely dominated, going close to securing a share of spoils on several occasions.
A header from Ahmed Shokry hit the post and striker Ahmed Abdel-Zaher dinked the ball just wide of the post after running onto a deft through pass.
Lively winger Walid Soliman also had a powerful shot tipped over by the keeper but he atoned for the miss when his first-time low shot from the edge of the area went past the Mahalla keeper.
In the 89th minute, left-back Ahmed Shedid floated a deep cross and Gamal pounced to head home from close range and give Ahly all three points.
