PHOTO GALLERY: Mahatma Gandhi and Tahrir Square Witness the spirit of Gandhi in Tahrir Square through a poster exhibition at El-Sawy Culturewheel until 9 May
As part of the Indian embassy-sponsored month-long India by the Nile Festival, El-Sawy Culturewheel presents an exhibition of posters that link Tahrir Square revolutionary events with the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi between 1 and 9 May. Posters on display are the best works from a call for submissions from artists from India, Egypt and a spatter of African countries, chosen by jurors from India and Egypt. Themed "Did you sense the spirit of Gandhi in Tahrir Square?" the designs aim at drawing parallels between the revolutionary spirit that dominated Cairo's Tahrir square during the 18 days of the 2011 revolution and wisdom of Mahatma Gandhi, who will forever incarnate the ideal of world peace and non-violence. Programme: Currently on display until 9 May Word Hall of El-Sawy Culturewheel 26th of July Street, Zamalek, Cairo Photos: Ati Metwaly http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/70787.aspx
