Cameroon's Eto'o blames stress for CAN 2013 exit Right after Cameroon's national team was eliminated from the African Cup of Nations, striker Samuel Eto'o admits their poor preparation and pressure was what did them in
Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o reveals that poor preparation is the main reason for his side's elimination from next year's African Cup of Nations. "Mentally, we had a difficult week before the game," Eto'o told the post-match press conference. The 31-year-old Eto'o, who only returned to Cameroon before the qualifier, couldn't lead his side to qualify as they lost 0-2 to Cape Verde in the away game in Praia, despite a 2-1 win in Yaounde. "We knew we had to score twice without conceding in order to go for penalties, but we conceded a goal," he added. "We don't have to work under pressure because when we work under pressure, it is complicated," The former Barcelona and Inter Milan attacker confirmed also that Cameroon needs to start preparing now for World Cup qualification if they expect to make it. "We have the time now to prepare the World Cup. It must start today," he urged. "We have to know all FIFA dates, we have to play, we have to meet and this team needs to live together," the current Anzhi Makhachkala striker concluded.
