FIFA on Monday held the draw for the 2012 Club World Cup tournament, which will take place in Japan, at the global soccer body's Zurich headquarters. The winners of the AFC Champions League will face CONCACAF Champions League winners CF Monterrey. The second quarter-final pairs the winners of the playoff between the Japanese champions, O-League champions Auckland City FC, and the winners of the CAF Champions League. "It's my great pleasure to declare the draw ceremony open," FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter announced, adding, "I wish every success to all the teams taking part in this wonderful tournament." Japanese Football Association President Kuniya Daini also gave a speech stressing his country's pride in hosting this "prestigious competition," insisting that preparations were "going very well." FC Barcelona are the winners of the last tournament, while Internazionale Milano won the 2010 edition. Egyptian champions Ahly are to play Nigeria's Sunshine Stars next month in the semi-finals of the CAF Champions, while Tunisia's Esperance will face DR Congo's TP Mazembe.
