Egypt's security forces threaten to disperse Nile University sit-in
Two students are reportedly arrested as Central Security Forces surround Nile University sit-in in a bid to move demonstrating students and faculty members
Published in Ahram Online on 17 - 09 - 2012

Egypt's Central Security Forces threatened, Monday, to disperse Nile University (NU) students and faculty members who have been staging a sit-in on the campus since 28 August.
Two students have, reportedly, been arrested outside the gates as they helped one of the students' mothers reach an ambulance after she had fainted within the university grounds.
Students have been organising demonstrations for the last three weeks, after they were forbidden from accessing their labs and classrooms when the government assigned all NU land to Zewail City for Science and Technology (ZCST) in 2011. The authorities consequently moved the NU to a temporary venue in Smart Village, on the Cairo-Alexandria road, west of the capital.
The security decision to clear the protest comes in response to a Giza court order issued on Monday, Mahmoud Allam, one of NU's founders, told Ahram Online. The court action follows a decision made on Sunday, by the Cabinet committee appointed to solve the NU crisis, that the students are to use the buildings of Mubarak City University instead.
In response, NU students blocked the entrance to ZCST in protest of the relocation.
