Ghanaian playmaker Kwadwo Asamoah said he is looking forward to playing alongside Andrea Pirlo after joining Italian Serie A champions Juventus. The evergreen Pirlo, 33, earned plaudits after putting in a string of impressive displays in Euro 2012, helping Italy beat the odds after reaching the final. "I'm excited about playing for the same team as Andrea Pirlo, who has always been my idol," Asamoah, who joined Juventus from fellow Serie A side Udinese, told the club's official website. "In my opinion, he is still the best, because he always plays well. He has so much experience, yet never changes and, for me, he is the most important player.” The promising Asamoah, a regular member of Ghana's squad, played a key role in helping the Black Stars reach the semi-finals of three successive African Nations Cups in 2008, 2010 and 2012. He was also part of the team that reached the 2010 World Cup quarter-finals before losing to Uruguay. "It is a dream to play for Juventus. I am only the second Ghanaian after [Stephen] Appiah," Asamoah added. "Juventus are a very big club that won the Scudetto last term. I saw many of their matches and I am ecstatic to be at this club. Joining Juventus is the best thing in my life." (For more sports news and updates, follow Ahram Online Sports on Twitter at @AO Sports and on Facebook at AhramOnlineSports)
