Islamists deny involvement in Suez's 'morality' victim

Officials from Al-Jamaa Al-Islamiya and the Muslim Brotherhood deny any links with the stabbing of a man in Suez, blaming the old regime for wrongly implicating them

Islamist groups have denied being behind the killing of the Suez student who was stabbed on Sunday at the hands of bearded men.
Al-Jamaa Al-Islamiya spokesman in Assiut Sheikh Hamada Nassar accused the remnants of Mubarak's regime of associating these accidents with the Islamic current without evidence, in an attempt to defame Islamists.
Abdel-Rahman El-Barr, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood's Guidance Bureau, also denied any links with the incident in a statement published on the group's official website. El-Barr blamed security elements, who falsely claim to belong to the Brotherhood or the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) and practice violence against citizens.
El-Barr further stated that such violent behaviour is not part of the group's agenda, for they "urge respect for the choices of Egyptian citizens, whether ideological or intellectual."
Ahmed Said, a twenty-year-old student, was stabbed after an encounter with three bearded men, who apparently objected to him walking with his fiancée, according to reports.
The young victim was then taken to Suez Hospital for treatment, before being transferred to a hospital in nearby Ismailiya where he eventually succumbed to his injuries.
