El-Erian temporary head of FJP Deputy head of Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party Essam El-Erian takes over position as party head following Mohamed Morsi's resignation
According to the Muslim Brotherhood's website Ikhwanonline, the Freedom and Justice Party executive office has replaced new president-elect Mohamed Morsi with Essam El-Erian as head of party. El-Erian was the deputy head of the FJP and will now fill in as party head, as Morsi resigned following his success in the presidential race. Morsi's decision to resign from the party was due to the fact that he had announced his wish to be the "president for all Egyptians" and not just members of his party or the Brotherhood.
