Keshi ‘under no pressure' ahead of Nigeria's World Cup qualifier The Nigeria coach is relaxed ahead of his first competitive match in charge of the Super Eagles following his appointment in November last year
Stephen Keshi said he does not feel any pressure as Nigeria host Namibia in their opening game of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers on Sunday. The 50-year-old is burdened with the task of turning around Nigeria's fortunes after they surprisingly failed to qualify for the 2012 African Cup of Nations. “There is nothing like pressure coming from any quarter. Tension or pressure is a natural thing in life,” Keshi was quoted as saying by Kickoff.com. “When you leave your house for a function you are under pressure to do it well, when you are driving you are under pressure to get to your destination, so life itself is full of pressure of all types, but no NFF official has put me under pressure.” Keshi was appointed as Nigeria boss in November last year, replacing Samson Siasia who failed to make use of the team's bunch of talented footballers. His first mission is to lift the Super Eagles to the final round of the World Cup qualifiers. They must finish on top of Group F, which includes Namibia, Malawi and Kenya, if they are to advance to the decisive phase. Nigeria made the last of their four World Cup appearances in the last edition in 2010. (For more sports news and updates, follow Ahram Online sports on Twitter:@AO Sports)
