Morsi, Shafiq officially in Egypt's presidential elections runoffs
SPEC officially announces Brotherhood's candidate Morsi and ex-Mubarak premier Shafiq will face off in second round of Egypt's presidential elections slated for 16 and 17 June

The Supreme Presidential Electoral Commission (SPEC) officially announced Monday that the Muslim Brotherhood's candidate Mohamed Morsi and ex-Mubarak prime minister Ahmed Shafiq will face off in the second round of Egypt's presidential elections, slated for 16 and 17 June.
The SPEC also announced the final overall vote count of the top five candidates from all 27 governorates,as follows:
Mohamed Morsi ( 5,764,952 votes)
Ahmed Shafiq (5,505,327 votes)
Hamdeen Sabbahi (4,820,273 votes)
Abdel-Moneim Abul-Fotouh (4,065,239 votes)
Amr Moussa (2,588,850 votes)
Total valid ballots were 23, 265,516; 406,720 ballots were found invalid. Turnout was 46.42 per cent of registered voters.
The last time Egyptians went to the polls to choose a president in September 2005, in the first-ever "multi-candidate elections" in the history of thr country, 7.1 million people cast ballots out of a pool of 32 million eligible voters that year.
Then-president Hosni Mubarak secured 87 per cent of the vote (6.3 million votes), while liberal lawyer Ayman Nour finished a distant second with 7 per cent (540,000 votes).
