Libya beat Angola to top Egypt's World Cup qualifying group
Published in Ahram Online on 07 - 09 - 2021

Libya claimed a surprise 1-0 victory away to Angola on Tuesday to top Egypt's World Cup qualifying group with maximum six points.
Omar Al Khoja scored what proved to be the winner two minutes before the break as Libya maintained their perfect start to their Group F campaign.
They are two points ahead of second-placed and group favourites Egypt, who snatched a last-gasp 1-1 draw away to Gabon on Sunday.
Egypt will meet Libya in a mouthwatering double-header next month, which could prove decisive in shaping competition for the solitary group ticket to the final qualifying phase.
Elsewhere, African champions Algeria were held to a 1-1 draw away to Burkina Faso while Senegal maintained their 100 percent start with a 3-1 win at Congo.
Sofiane Feghouli fired Algeria in front on 18 minutes but Abdoul Fessal Tapsoba levelled the score with a 64th-minute strike.
Algeria are now level with Burkina Faso on four points on top of Group A, one ahead of Niger. Djibouti lie at the bottom with no points after suffering two losses.
Boulaye Dia gave Senegal the lead over Congo in the 27th minute but Silvere Ganvoula equalised with a penalty on the stroke of halftime.
Ismaila Sarr restored Senegal's advantage in the 82nd minute and Liverpool winger Sadio Mane ensured the win three minutes from time.
Senegal lead Group H with six points, followed by Namibia on four and Congo with one point. Togo are pointless at the bottom.
