Published in Ahram Online on 05 - 09 - 2021

Gabon's captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang says his national team will do its best when they host Egypt in the second round of the African World Cup qualifiers on Sunday.
"We are going to give our all on the pitch. This is the kind of game you like when you are a great player," Arsenal forward Aubameyang was quoted as saying by the Gabonese Football Association official website on Sunday.
Gabon were drawn in Group F of the World Cup qualifiers alongside Libya, Egypt, and Angola. The Panthers opened their campaign with a 2-1 loss to Libya on Wednesday.
Aubameyang considers their confrontation with Egypt a special one; the Gunners' player is also anticipating facing the Pharaohs skipper and Liverpool star winger Mohamed Salah.
"This is the first time that we will meet on the international level," Aubameyang said about Salah whom he has met alot on the club level in the English Premier League.
The 32-year-old Aubameyang was included in Gabon's squad alongside 12 other foreign-based players for the two qualifier games against Libya and Egypt.
Egypt are leading their Group with three points on level with Libya, while Gabon lie in the bottom of the Group after the loss to Libya. Only the group winners will advance to a final two-legged playoff for a place in next year's World Cup in Qatar.
Gabon, who are eying their first ever appearance at the prestigious World Cup, have already booked a place in the 2021 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
