Egyptian diver Mohab Ishak El-Kordi has qualified for the men's 3m springboard final after finishing 11th in the semifinals on Tuesday. The 24-year-diver scored 408.85 points after his six rounds to rank 11th out of 18 divers who made it to the semis. The top 12 qualify for the final. El-Kordi scored 72.85 points in the Forward 3 ½ somersaults, 85.00 points in the Forward 2 ½ Somersaults 2 twists, 69.30 points in the Reverse 2 ½ Somersaults 1 ½ twist, 56.00 points in the Reverse 3 ½ Somersaults, 64.50 points in the Back 2 ½ Somersaults and 61.20 points in the Inward 3 ½ Somersaults. He has qualified for the semis after scoring 422.75 points in the preliminary round to rank 12th among 29 divers. The final will be held on Tuesday at 8:00 Cairo time (GMT+2). Egypt's only medals in diving dates back to Amsterdam 1928 when Farid Simaika won the silver medal in the 10m platform and the bronze in the 3m springboard.
