Defending Champions Ahly have dropped precious points after being held to a 1-1 draw by National Bank of Egypt (NBE) on Thursday. The Cairo giants are missing six key players who are away on international duty in addition to winger Hussein El Shahat due to injury. The Reds took the lead after Mohamed "Afsha" Magdi scored in the 48th minute only to be canceled by a late equaliser from Karim Bambo five minutes before time. Ahly controlled the ball most of the game, but their strikers were sloppy in front of goal. Only Afsha managed to put the ball in the back of the net with a pwoerful shot from inside the box after picking a rebound from Mahmoud "Kahraba" Abdel-Moneim. Defenders weren't in better shape as they were caught napping numerous times including when Bambo rose unmarked in the six yards to head a precise cross from Assem Salah. Ahly, 52 points, now need to win all their three postponed games to go level with league leaders Zamalek who have 61 points. On the other side after their second tie with the Cairo giants Ahly, NBE have reached the 26th point to be in the the 15th place.
