The Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR) called on Wednesday for TV channels to abide by time limits set for advertisements during primetime TV slots in Ramadan. The council said in a statement that it may intervene to protect viewers against lengthy ads if channels do not abide by the set time limits. The council urged all channels to stick to rules regulating ad slot durations in order not to distract the audience from the content. The SCMR has the authority to determine maximum length for advertising slots for all media outlets. Meanwhile, a monitoring committee affiliated with the SCMR is following up on all drama series screened in Ramadan to make sure their content does not contravene the norms of Egyptian society and are in line with family values.
