Israeli ministers: Election won't affect Iran Prospects of early elections will not effect the decision whether to strike Iran, say Israeli defence minister and deputy PM
Two top Israeli security officials say the prospect of early national elections will have no influence over a decision over whether to strike Iranian nuclear sites. Both Defence Minister Ehud Barak and Deputy Prime Minister Moshe Yaalon said in published comments on Wednesday that policy toward Iran will be based solely on strategic interests. Israel believes Iran is developing a nuclear bomb and has repeatedly hinted that it might attack Iranian nuclear facilities in the coming months. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signaled this week that he may call parliamentary elections a year ahead of schedule — casting additional uncertainty over any Israeli military plans. Barak's comments were published on his Facebook page, while Yaalon spoke to the Maariv daily. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/40701.aspx
