Bradley announces Egypt squad, excluding Ahly and Zamalek players Ahly, ENPPI and Zamalek players will not train during the Pharaohs next camp in preparation for global championships
The technical staff of the Egyptian national football team, under the guidance of American coach Bob Bradley, announce on Wednesday an 18-man squad for the Pharaohs training camp that will take place from 3 - 9 May. The seven-time Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) champions are scheduled to play the Central African Republic in CAN 2013 in June. They will kick off their Brazil 2014 World Cup campaign in the same month, paired with Guinea, Zimbabwe and Mozambique in Group G. The 54-year-old American coach has excluded Ahly, ENPPI and Zamalek players, who are all commited to continental engagements with their respective teams. Cairo archrivals Ahly and Zamalek are preparing for the second leg of round of 16 of the CAF Champions League against Stade Malian Maghreb Fez on 12 and 13 May. ENPPI players are also preparing for their anticipated match against Mali's Cercle de Bamako in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup round of 16. All Egyptian domestic competitions have been suspended since 1 February following the Port Said football tragedy that left more than 70 fans dead and hundreds injured.
