Published in Ahram Online on 01 - 03 - 2021

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said that the State pays great attention to the projects aimed at improving the quality of Nile water as per presidential directives.
Madbouly made his remarks on Sunday while chairing a meeting to follow up the progress of ongoing projects to improve water quality in the Rosetta branch of the Nile, in the presence of the ministers of environment, local development and housing.
The premier instructed officials to complete these projects within the next two years, while coordinating with the Ministry of Local Development to fill up a number of drainage canals in Giza to eliminate any possible source of pollution.
Meanwhile, Minister of Housing Assem El-Gazzar presented on his ministry's efforts to enhance water quality in the western Nile branch.
He also briefed the premier on the implementation status of some sewage and wastewater treatment projects under construction nationwide, including an integrated sewage project covering 22 villages, as Phase 1, near El-Rahawy drain in Giza.
Another project also seeks to improve and expand the Abu-Rawash wastewater treatment plant to beef up its daily capacity to 1.6 million cubic meters at an estimated cost of EGP 5.6 billion, El-Gazzar noted.
