Egypt's Minister of Health Hala Zayed said on Tuesday that the ambulance system in the country has had recent upgrades worth EGP 846 million. The minister added that the ministry recently provided ambulances service on the new highways and road axes and has increased the number of ambulance vehicles to 407 vehicles with a cost of EGP 402.5 million in addition to renovating the river ambulance headquarter and providing it with an ambulance speed boat (EGP 1.2 million). Zayed's statement came during the inauguration of a medical complex in Ismailia as well as several other hospitals and medical institutions nationwide via video conference, which was attended by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi. Zayed stated thar the infrastructure of the ambulance system was upgraded through establishing new ambulance centers nationwide where 30 ambulance centres and 14 other centers were established in addition to upgrading four ambulance centres with a cost of EGP 12.9 million. The cost of the new headquarter of ambulance authority reached EGP 429 million, she added.
