Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi congratulated on Saturday the Sudanese people and government on the occasion of Sudan's Independence Day, which is celebrated every year on 1 January since 1956. This came during a phone call between El-Sisi and Chairman of Sudan's Sovereign Council Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, a statement by the Egyptian presidency said.
El-Sisi affirmed Egypt's full support for Sudan in all fields, based on the close link of Egyptian and Sudanese national security, and the historical ties that bind the two people of the Nile Valley, the statement said.
From his side, Al-Burhan appreciated the popular and governmental inherent rapprochement between Egypt and Sudan, and the mutual efforts to improve the bonds of joint cooperation between the two countries, the statement added.
In this regard, Al-Burhan also hailed the unlimited Egyptian support through various forums to preserve the safety and stability of Sudan.
Egypt's Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady said in the statement that El-Sisi and Al-Burhan further discussed, during the call, the aspects of bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries, as well as developments in regional files of common interest.
They agreed, Rady noted, on the continuation of intensive consultation and mutual coordination in this context during the coming period in the common interest of the two countries and their people.
