Egypt reported 239 new coronavirus cases on Sunday bringing the total infection tally to 109,201 since the outbreak of the pandemic in February. This is the highest daily coronavirus count Egypt has recorded since 1 August, according to the health ministry released figures. The ministry also reported 13 new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 6,368. The statement said that 103 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 100,342. The government has recently urged caution due to the recent slight increase of the daily detected coronavirus cases in Egypt. Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said during a cabinet meeting last week that the country will exercise “zero tolerance” against people who fail to adhere to preventive measures against the pandemic. According to a statement by the cabinet, Madbouly said infections are on an upward curve. He urged citizens to adhere to the restrictions to avoid “unnecessary difficult scenarios”. He ordered the relevant authorities at the same time to fine violators of preventive measures, mainly wearing face masks, among other measures.
