Italian fashion for brides on show in Doha Doha closes their Italian Wedding Dream today, having seen VIP's and the top who are in the process of tying the knot and going all out
Fashionistas and wedding planners converged in Doha Monday for Italian Wedding Dream 2012, a showcase for the growing market of designer weddings. Hosted at the Maserati showroom in Qatar's capital, the two-day event has brought together some of Italy's top fashion designers to present today's cutting-edge trends in bridal fashion. The event was organised by the Italian Business Council in Qatar in collaboration with the Alfardan Sports Motors Company. Fashion designers Lorenzo Riva, Luisa Sposa, Cielo Blu and Oro e Seta have unveiled handmade dresses that resemble sculptures, decorated with precious stones, gold, silver and Murano glass. Local celebrities and diplomats have already attended the event, which closes today with an even more exclusive afternoon, open only for a selected group of women at the luxurious Sharq Village and Spa. Renowned Italian chef Andrea Zanin is catering the event with a monumental wedding cake. "Italian Wedding Dream shows that Qatar has become one of the most important destinations for the luxury sector, attracting talent from across the world," said Mohamed Kandeel, general manager of the Alfardan Sports Motor Company. The event comes in the run-up to IWED 2012, the International Wedding Exhibition & Fashion Show that opens 4 April at the Doha Exhibition Centre. Last year the same event drew more than 24,000 visitors, sparking an array of orders and reservations in a country where couples are known to spend in excess of 200,000 Euros on wedding preparations.
