Egypt reported 121 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, bringing the total infection tally to 102,375 since the outbreak began in mid-February, the health ministry announced. The ministry also reported 16 new deaths, bringing the total fatalities from the virus to 5,822. The ministry said that 700 patients had been discharged from hospitals over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 91,843. The daily tally of coronavirus cases detected in recent weeks is still higher than a low of 89 reported on August 22, the lowest daily case toll since April. The government has repeatedly urged caution to avoid a second wave of the pandemic, particularly with the advent of autumn.
