Deputy ruler of UAE's Sharjah passes away in UK

Sheikh Ahmed bin Sultan Al-Qasimi, deputy ruler of Sharjah, passed away on Thursday in the United Kingdom, the official news agency of the United Arab Emirates WAM said on Thursday.
Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and ruler of Sharjah, mourned the death of his deputy, praying to Allah to rest his soul in peace and to grant patience to his family.
A statement issued by the Sharjah Media Office announced an official mourning period with flags at half-mast in the emirate for a period of three days starts when Al-Qasimi body returns from London and the funeral prayers take place.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has condoled with the Ruler of Sharjah, the royal family and the people of Sharjah over Sheikh Ahmed's death.
"Our condolences to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi and the people of the UAE on the death of Sheikh Ahmed bin Sultan Al-Qasimi, may God rest his soul," he said on Twitter, praying for the Al-Qasimi family to be granted patience and solace.

Also Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, sent a similar message of condolence to the royal family of Sharjah.
'My sincere condolences to my brother Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi and his family on the passing of Sheikh Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi. I pray they are granted patience and solace during these difficult and trying times. May he rest in peace.'

The Ministry of Presidential Affairs issued a statement on the same day mourning the death of Al-Qasimi offering condolences, prayers to his family.
According to WAM, condolences will only be received via phone call, amid current circumstances of coronavirus pandemic.
