Ahly register newcomer Kahraba in team's African squad

Ahly's newly signed winger Mahmoud ‘Kahraba' Abdel-Moneim has been registered in the Red Devils' African squad ahead of the game against Zimbabwe's FC Platinum in the CAF Champions League, the club's football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz announced.
The Cairo giants officially signed the former Zamalek star for a term of four-and-a-half years starting January in a free transfer.
The 25-year-old, who joined CD Aves last summer after terminating his contract with Zamalek, made his debut with Ahly during Sunday's 3-1 win over FC Masr in the Egyptian Premier League.
"Ahly's technical staff headed by Rene Weiler decided to register Kahraba in the team's African squad," Abdel-Hafiz told Ahly's official website on Monday.
Ahly, who are leading the table of the Egyptian Premier League with a full mark of 30 points, are second in Group B of the CAF Champions League group stage with six points after playing three games so far.
The Red Devils are preparing to face Zimbabwe's Platinum in the fourth round of the group stage games on Saturday.
Kahraba had sparked controversy after opting to unilaterally terminate his contract with Zamalek to move to Aves in the close season.
Kahraba said his contract was not valid and had already run out. Zamalek, however, said the player had signed an extension and could not leave without the club's consent.
The former Zamalek star is known for his silky moves and catchy feints down the flank, as well as his goal-scoring abilities, but he is often criticised for failing to live up to his potential due to disciplinary problems.
