Ahly Ultras to demand action on Port Said 'martyrs' Supporters of Cairo club Ahly to demand rights of those killed at Port Said tragedy at protest on Friday
Ultras Ahlawy– the hardcore supporters of Cairo football club Ahly – are to hold a protest at club's headquarters in Gezira on Friday. “We are organising the demonstration to demand the rights of the martyrs killed at the Port Said disaster,” read a statement on the group's 400,000-member Facebook page. The martyrs' families called for the demonstration, the statement said. The Ultras insisted it would be “peaceful” and justice would be applied “even it costs the lives of more Ultras.” Investigations are ongoing into the country's worst football disaster which took place in Port Said on 1 February. Thousands of Masry supporters invaded the pitch after the final whistle and attacked Ahly fans. More than 70 people died and hundreds were injured. All football competitions in Egypt have been suspended since the tragedy. The elected Football Association board resigned and Ahly is observing forty day mourning period.
