Violin and singing master classes in Alexandria Tenor Georges Wanis and violinist Osman El Mahdy will offer master classes in music from 20 - 26 February in Alexandria
The master classes scheduled for February aim to boost and further develop the musical skills of young voice and violin students. Beginners and advanced levels are welcome to join. Programme: 20 – 26 February Jesuit Cultural Centre 298 Port Said St., Cleopatra, Alexandria ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Osman El-Mahdy is an Egyptian violinist, founder of the Cairo Opera String Quartet and head of the Suzuki method violin classes held under the umbrella of the Talents Development Centre at the Cairo Opera House. El-Mahdy is also a former konzertmeister of the Cairo Opera Orchestra (1994-2005) and professor of violin and chamber music at the Cairo Conservatory (1989- 2005). He performed as a soloist and as a member of various chamber ensembles in Europe, Syria, United Arab Emirates and Japan. Born in Cairo to an Egyptian father and an Italian mother, tenor Georges Wanis studied voice with Violette Makar at the Cairo Conservatory and was a member of the Cairo Opera Company in the 1990s. He continued his music studies at the Ecole Normal de Paris in Paris with Caroline Dumas. He's made it to the finals of a number of international singing competitions. Wanis performs regularly in operas and oratorios in Egypt and Europe.
