Security foils armed robbery on HSBC branch in October City Would-be robbers exchange gunfire with security guards before fleeing in latest attempted raid on the multinational bank in Egypt
Security guards foiled an armed robbery at a branch of HSBC-Egypt in 6 October City on Tuesday morning, Ahram's Arabic gate reports. Suspected robbers and bank security exchanged gunfire before the former fled the scene. No injuries were reported. According to Ahram, bank guards became suspicious when they saw a black sports utility vehicle parked in front of the HSBC branch. Its passengers claimed they were repairing flat tyres. Guards spotted automatic weapons inside the vehicle and attempted to arrest the passengers who responded by opening fire before racing off. The British-headquartered multinational bank has already been the target of armed gangs this month. Last Monday, seven gunmen stormed an HSBC-Egypt branch in Heliopolis, northwest Cairo, and seized up to $150,000 in cash. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/33904.aspx
