Joseph Blatter is shocked by Port Said stadium incidents that caused the death of at least 74 people

FIFA President Sepp Blatter called it “a black day for football” after clashes between fans of clubs Al-Ahly and Al-Masry resulted in the worst football violence since 78 were killed in a stampede at a 1996 World Cup qualifier between Guatemala and Costa Rica.
"I am very shocked and saddened to learn this evening that a large number of football supporters have died or been injured following a match in Port Said, Egypt," Blatter said on a statement published on theFIFA's website.
"My thoughts are with the families of those who have lost their lives this evening.
"This is a black day for football. Such a catastrophic situation is unimaginable and should not happen."
More than 70 fans were dead and hundreds wounded after thousands of Masry fans invaded the pitch following the team's 3-1 Egyptian Premier League victory over Ahly.
