Brotherhood to head main economic committees in Egypt parliament Members of the Freedom and Justice Party are voted into the top jobs in four main economic advisory bodies
The Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) has been voted to head the four main economic committees in Egypt's new parliament. FJP members will lead the parliamentary bodies in charges of industrial, labour, economic, and planning and budget issues. The 508 members of Egypt's new parliament are in the process of holding ballots to elect MPs to head 19 lower house committees which deal with different sectors and policies. The committees are tasked with raising the complaints and suggestions of MPs to the relevant government ministry or authority. The FJP committee heads are as follows: Industrial Committee: Sayed Abdel Aziz Labour Committee: Sabr Abo El-Fotouh Economic Committee: Tarek Hassanayn Planning and Budget Committee: Saad El-Husseiny Further voting is continuing with nine results still to come, including the head of the Tourism Committee. The Freedom and Justice Party controls 46 per cent of seats in Egypt's new parliament.
