Ahly winger Ramadan Sobhi is a major doubt for Thursday's crucial league clash against Pyramids FC after acquiring a thigh injury. The 22-year-old winger is set to undergo a final test during Wednesday's training to decide if he will be available for the game or he needs further rest, according to the club's website. The Cairo giants are already missing injured defender Saad Samir and midfielders Karim “Nedved” Walid and Mohamed Hani, who are serving automatic one-match bans. Sobhi, who joined Ahly on loan in January from Premier League side Huddersfield, has been a key figure in the Red Devils' league success this season, scoring a goal and assisting two in ten appearances. His footwork and dazzling skills in addition to his physical strength help him break through defences and are a major threat to all rivals. Ahly are at the top of the table for the first time this season, ahead of the final sprint in the league. Backed by rich Gulf investors, Pyramids FC are a rising power in Egyptian football, and are standing third in the league table on 57 points, just one adrift of Ahly, although they have played two games more. Ahly are looking to avenge their 2-1 first round defeat in January. (For more sports news and updates, follow Ahram Online Sports on Twitter at @AO_Sports and on Facebook at AhramOnlineSports.)
