Ahly are content to have played out a 0-0 draw with Guinea's Horoya AC in the first leg of the African Champions League quarters given the weather conditions and a poor pitch in Conakry, assistant coach Mohamed Youssef said. The Red Devils wasted several goal-scoring chances to settle for a goalless stalemate on Friday, which was satisfying for the club. "We played a good game despite the difficulties we faced such as high temperature, humidity and the poor condition of the pitch," Youssef, the assistant of head coach Patrice Carteron, told Ahly's official website after the game. "We will immediately prepare for the second leg which we must win." The last year's runners-up will be firm favourites to advance to the last four when they host Horoya in the second leg at Cairo's Al-Salam Stadium on 22 September but the Guineans can still fancy their chances of causing a huge upset and ousting the mighty Cairo club. Ahly are eyeing a record-extending ninth title and their first since 2013. "I hope our fans will fill the stadium in the second leg to support us in our bid to reclaim the Champions League crown," added Youssef, who was in charge of the club when they won the last of their accolades five years ago.
