In pictures, World Cup highlights (Day 10): Kane beats Ronaldo to the top, James shines as Poland sent packing

Kane's hat-trick
Harry Kane scored a hat-trick for England in their 6-1 thrashing of Panama to become the tournament's top scorer with five goals, one ahead of Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo. Kane is the only player in Russia to have a 100% accuracy record as he scored five goals out of five shots on goal. He became the third England player to score a hat-trick at a World Cup following Geoff Hurst in the 1966 final and Gary Lineker against Poland in the 1986 tournament.

Senegal save Africa's pride
Senegal have kept alive their hopes in reaching the round of 16 after holding Japan to a 2-2 draw. They twice gave away their lead but still remained on top of the group with four points, on level with Japan. However, coach Aliou Cisse was frustrated with his side's defensive display as a win would have secured their passage. “Despite the fact we were leading twice, what is annoying for me is the two goals we conceded. All I know is at this level of competition with the players we have today, who are world-class, these were avoidable goals. That is crystal clear," he said.

Honda, the best Asian
After scoring the equalizer in a 2-2 draw with Senegal, Japan forward Keisuke Honda has become the top-scoring Asian player in World Cup history. He has scored four goals in nine appearances in the tournament.

James, the World Cup hero
After setting up two goals in Colombia's 3-0 win over Poland, James Rodriguez – the 2014 World Cup top scorer - is seen as the best performer so far over the past two editions as he scored 6 goals and provided four assists. No other player has matched such a record. His glittering night came at the expense of the polish who became the first European team to exit the tournament.
