Hundreds of microbus drivers staged a strike Monday morning in Haram Street, causing a traffic jam for several hours in one of the Giza governorate's key throughfares. The drivers were protesting against the increase in traffic fines and taxes imposed by the government on microbuses. Hundreds of drivers took part, using their microbuses to block the busy Haram Street and Faisal Street in the early morning. Police and army officers are currently negotiating with the drivers so that a solution can be found to allow traffic to pass while they continue with their strike.
