The Korean Cultural Centre in Egypt held a gala concert on Sunday at the Cairo Opera House's Main Hall featuring the Busan National Gugak Centre troupe. In his opening speech, the South Korean Ambassador to Cairo, Yoon Yeocheol, said that the performances reflected Korea's interest in blending the legacy of its rich traditional culture with modernity. The ambassador also pointed out that the Embassy and the Korean Cultural Centre will jointly present a number of Korean performances to the Egyptian people in the future to introduce the long history of the Korean culture, and invites presentations of modern Egyptian culture to the Korean people as well. The Korean troupe presented sophistocated and traditional music, percussion and dance. These performances included Samulnori, Jinsoe Dances, Fan Dance and Kyonggi Folk songs. Founded in 2008, the troupe aims at promoting traditional Korean arts within and outside Korea.
