Details emerge over latest cabinet attack

Co-ordinated attack on protesters with rocks and rubber bullets comes after another round of voting in Egypt parliamentary elections

The Egyptian military has forcibly evacuated protesters from Qasr El-Aini Street by beating them with plastic batons and firing rubber bullets.
Earlier today, the Army dispersed the three-week long sit-in outside the Cabinet offices, burning the protesters' tents after using rocks and gunfire to clear the area. The sit-in started on 25 November in protest at the appointment of the Mubarak-era politician Kamal El Ganzouri as prime minister in the wake of the security forces' deadly attack on protesters – killing at least 40 – for six days from 19 November.
After being forced to leave their protest site, protesters moved to the adjacent Qasr El-Aini Street, only to once again come under heavy attack from the military police.
According to reports from the scene, the Army is firing at protesters from the adjacent Authority of Roads and Bridges building to try and force the protesters out of the street.
The attack on the protesters comes a day after the end of voting in the second round of Egypt's parliamentary elections. Although Cairo voted in the first round, the neighbouring Giza governorate was involved in the latest voting.
